Seasonal maintenance and washing of facades, terraces, roofs and overhangs (aqua-sanding).
Wood washing is the most underestimated measure in the field of protection and operation of wooden products. The main purpose of washing is to prevent the destruction of wood due to the reproduction of fungus and mold on its surface.
According to technological standards, before painting wood, it must be washed, and in the case of outdoor use, this procedure should be performed on painted wood twice a year: in spring and autumn. This is due to the fact that wood is a breeding ground for fungus and mold, the spores of which are constantly in the atmospheric air. Once on the surface of the wood, the spores begin to multiply under favorable conditions (moisture, air temperature) and at a certain concentration (or damage to the paint coating) can lead to the destruction of the wood.
It is advisable to carry out washing using a high-pressure washer ("Karcher") with the application of special detergents to the surface and subsequent copious rinsing. It is worth remembering that excessive water pressure should be avoided, which can damage the paint coating (except in cases where it is necessary to completely remove the old paintwork).
In such cases, wood washing is combined with sanding (brushing) using high pressure and special cutters. Thus, primary sanding (brushing) is carried out. After the washing procedure, the products must be allowed to dry for 24 to 48 hours, and only after preliminary measurements of the moisture index proceed to further processing.
How we work: wood washing stages
Condition diagnostics
Inspection for damaged wood, dirt, bio-damage (mold, fungus, blueness). Choice of washing type.
Dry cleaning
Preliminary dry removal of cobwebs, dry leaf residues, and insects using a brush and vacuum cleaner.
Application of special chemicals
Wetting the facade, applying a detergent solution using a washer, holding for up to 1 hour to remove spores.
Manual cleaning
Cleaning complex and hard-to-reach places using brushes and sponges: platbands, decor, window and door areas.
Rinsing and processing
Rinsing off the solution with plenty of water, aqua-brushing or sanding depending on the chosen type of work.
Drying
Final rinsing and drying up to 48 hours (on average, if the air temperature is above 10°C).
Types of wood washing
- By depth and type of sanding: simple washing, washing with sanding, washing with brushing;
- By location type: indoors, outdoors;
- By location: horizontal surfaces (floors, ceilings, overhangs, roofs) and vertical (walls, windows);
- By type of complexity: standard linear surfaces, non-standard shaped surfaces;
- By construction type: rounded timber, profiled and glued timber, frame houses with wooden finish (imitation timber, planken, etc.).
